Idiyappam is a common breakfast dish in Kerala and Tamilnadu. It is made of rice flour and is a very healthy breakfast as it is steamed cooked. Like idly it can be served even to sick people. We call this sevai.Earlier my mother used to prepare it. It is a quick, healthy and easy recipe.

Instructions for use

  • Take 1 cup of Millet idiyappam flour
  • Boil the water, add little oil
  • Add the boiling water and little by little to the flour and mix well till it gathers together to form a smooth dough
  • Use the idiyappam press and make the idiyappam
  • Steam the pressed idiyappam in a steamer for 7 to 9 minutes
  • Idiyappam is ready

It can be consumed with Vegetable Stew, Avial, Coconut Milk and Sugar, Kurma or crumble the Idiyappam and make it as a Lemon Sevai, Vegetable Sevai etc.

Ingredients: Barnyard Millet, Little Millet, Kodo Millet, Rock Salt
